LAC Worldwide, Globalia member in Itajai and Sao Paolo, Brazil, has carried out the successful transportation of a project cargo consisting of a mobile asphalt plant with tanks and accessories. The primary equipment, the asphalt plant, was 22.60 meters in length, 3.20 meters in width, and 4.40 meters in height. The tanks and trailers, measured 14.00 meters x 3.20 meters x 4.40 meters. In addition, they moved wooden crates specifically designed by LAC Worldwide to accommodate all the accessories and made them forkliftable. In total, the shipment amounted to 783 cubic meters and 81 tons.

Felipe Sellera, the Project Cargo and Branch Manager of LAC Worldwide, highlights that apart from dealing with the size and unique characteristics of the cargo, one of the major challenges of this project was the destination itself. “Venezuela has recently posed difficulties for spot projects, making it a complex country to operate in. However, our team navigated these challenges by avoiding LOLO operations and instead focused on finding a tailor-made vessel that suited the project’s requirements.”

They used shrink-wrapping plastic to protect the equipment and avoid damage to the electronic controlling components. Moreover, owing to the low ground clearance of the main cargo, combined with its considerable length, the team executed several strategic manoeuvres. These manoeuvres were necessary to enable safe handling during the loading and discharge operations.

“Additionally, we had the invaluable support of Globalia agent, Cosmos Enterprises. They helped us to conduct a thorough survey of the discharge process for the chartered vessel. They also helped us obtain the necessary documentation to clear the goods for its final consignee. Lastly, this collaboration and support played a crucial role in the project’s successful execution despite the complexities associated with the destination,” adds Mr Sellera.

Congratulations to LAC Worldwide and all the best for their upcoming projects!

In the words of Mr. Luiz Gustavo Avesani Moura, the CEO of LAC Worldwide “Perhaps the greatest challenge of this project was to obtain the special containers during this ongoing equipment shortage. Furthermore, we had to ensure the space for various equipment of this type with the shipowner. Lastly, the numerous blank sailings at the port of Buenos Aires led to a huge accumulation of cargo at the point of origin. In spite of all these challenges, our team stood up to the occasion and ensured the seamless transportation of the cargo.”

They also carried out the transportation of the machines from the point of origin to the port. Additionally, LAC was also responsible for several other aspects of this shipment. This included obtaining special transport licenses, loading/lashing of machines, and equipment certification. Moreover, they were also in charge of the complete survey at the origin and destination. “This was yet another successful project performed by our project team. I would like to congratulate my entire team and especially our project director Felipe Sellera who impeccably handled every aspect of this complicated project,” adds Mr. Moura.

Congratulations to LAC Worldwide for the successful handling of this project and all the best for their future projects!

“Moving the shipment proved to be a demanding task due to the enormity of the volume as well as reduced flights during the pandemic. Our team’s expertise in handling cold chain shipments was an important factor in the successful handling of the project since we were required to move over 10 tons of PCR kits which are highly perishable with a shelf life of just 4-5 days.” states Mr. Luiz Gustavo Avesani Moura the CEO of LAC Worldwide.

The Miami team of LAC Worldwide helped with several tasks including the adjustment and checking of packages, arrangement of transit documents, temperature control, photographic reports, and customs clearance. Mr. Moura further adds, “I would like to thank our LAC heroes who are working 24/7 to meet the demands of our customers with 100% success. We intend to ship over 30 tons of PPEs and testing kits in the coming month.”

Congratulations to LAC Worldwide Brazil and USA for this commendable job and wishing them all the best for their upcoming projects!
