Our strength lies in collaboration between members and in the consistent effort to build reliable, long-term partnerships across borders.
Dear members,
Welcome to the March edition of Globalia’s quarterly newsletters. As we move forward in what continues to be a dynamic and often unpredictable year for our industry, staying connected and proactive has never been more important. At Globalia Logistics Network, our strength lies in the collaboration between members and the consistent effort to build reliable, long-term partnerships across borders.
In this edition of our newsletter, we focus on a topic that sits at the core of success within the network, how to become a preferred agent. Our featured blog, “How to Become a Preferred Agent Within Globalia,” takes a practical look at what truly sets high-performing members apart. From responsiveness and operational reliability to actively increasing your visibility through our PR and marketing channels, the message is clear: those who engage consistently are the ones who see the greatest results. I strongly encourage all members to take full advantage of these tools by sharing their achievements with us so we can help amplify their presence across the network.
Alongside this, we bring you an important sector update on the recent surge in diesel prices, driven by ongoing tensions in the Middle East. With fuel costs rising above $5 per gallon in the U.S. and even higher in certain regions, the impact is already being felt across global supply chains. For our industry, this translates into increased operational costs and added pressure on both carriers and shippers. Staying informed about these developments is essential as we adapt our strategies in response to shifting market conditions.
As always, this newsletter also includes a selection of key headlines from across the logistics sector, offering a snapshot of the trends and changes shaping our business environment. In addition, you will find links to recently published freight forwarding blogs, as well as a roundup of member news from the past three months.
I encourage you to take a few moments to explore this edition in detail. I look forward to continuing to strengthen our network together.
Kind regards,
Antonio Torres
President and Founder - Globalia Logistics Network

In an international freight forwarders network like Globalia, visibility and reliability go hand in hand. While every member is carefully selected, not all agents receive the same volume of enquiries or long-term partnerships. The difference often comes down to one thing, how actively and effectively they position themselves within the network.
Becoming a preferred agent is not about size or market dominance. It’s about consistency, responsiveness, and making sure other members know who you are and what you bring to the table.
The foundation of any strong partnership in logistics is trust. When a fellow member reaches out for a quote or enquiry, your speed and clarity of response matter more than you might think. Agents who consistently reply on time, provide accurate information, and follow through on commitments naturally become go-to partners. Over time, this builds a reputation that travels across the network. Members remember who made their job easier and they return with more business. Reliability also extends beyond communication. Smooth handling, proactive updates, and problem-solving during shipments all contribute to how other agents perceive your company.
Being a strong operator isn’t enough if no one knows about it. Visibility plays a huge role in becoming a preferred partner within Globalia. This is where the network’s PR and Marketing support becomes a powerful tool. Members who actively share updates about their company stand out far more than those who remain silent.
Whether it’s a new service, a milestone shipment, an office expansion, or a certification, these achievements deserve to be seen. By sending your company news to the network’s marketing team, you ensure it gets professionally written, published in the news section, and promoted across social media channels. This kind of exposure does two things. First, it reinforces your credibility. Second, it keeps your company top of mind when other members are looking for a reliable partner in your region.
Events such as Globalia’s Annual Meeting are another key piece of the puzzle. These gatherings are about making a lasting impression.
Globalia’s next Annual Meeting will take place from 26th to 28th October in Bangkok, offering members another opportunity to connect face-to-face, strengthen relationships, and explore new business opportunities within the network. Come prepared, be clear about your strengths, and follow up after the event. The agents who turn short conversations into ongoing communication are the ones who see real results.
In a network environment, word travels fast. A single positive experience can lead to multiple referrals, just as poor service can limit future opportunities. Being proactive, professional, and easy to work with creates a ripple effect. Over time, your name starts coming up in conversations, recommendations, and group discussions. That’s when you know you’ve moved from being just another member to becoming a preferred agent.
What this really comes down to is participation. The most successful Globalia members are not passive, they engage, communicate, and promote their strengths. By combining operational excellence with active visibility—especially through PR and marketing initiatives, you position your company exactly where it needs to be: at the forefront of the network. And in a community built on collaboration, that’s where the real opportunities begin.

Fuel costs climb sharply across the U.S., with some regions nearing $6 per gallon, as supply constraints linked to the Iran conflict push up transport costs and strain carriers and shippers alike

Diesel prices across the United States have jumped significantly, crossing the $5 per gallon mark amid escalating geopolitical tensions in the Middle East. According to data from the Energy Information Administration (EIA), the national average reached $5.375 per gallon this week, reflecting a sharp increase compared to just days earlier.
The rise has been widespread. High-cost markets such as California are now approaching the $6 per gallon range, while traditionally lower-cost regions have also seen prices climb beyond $5, signalling a nationwide impact.
This surge marks a dramatic shift from early March, when diesel prices were still below $4 per gallon. The most significant jump came during the second week of the month, when prices spiked by nearly a dollar in just one week. Although the pace of increase slowed slightly afterward, the upward trend has continued, driven largely by disruptions in global oil flows.
At the centre of the issue is the ongoing conflict involving Iran, which is affecting key oil transit routes and tightening supply. The situation is placing additional pressure on one of the world’s most critical energy corridors, pushing fuel costs higher and creating ripple effects across the logistics sector.
For trucking companies, the impact varies depending on how freight is priced. Carriers operating in the spot market are particularly exposed, as they often cannot pass on rising fuel costs as easily. In contrast, those working under contract agreements with fuel surcharge mechanisms are better protected, with shippers absorbing a larger share of the increase through higher rates.
That said, some analysts suggest that smaller carriers may see temporary relief as retail diesel prices begin to stabilise. As pricing benchmarks catch up with real-time pump rates, fuel surcharges are expected to adjust accordingly, offering some level of cost recovery.
The effects are not limited to road transport. Ocean carriers and parcel delivery companies have also begun implementing higher fuel surcharges in response to rising energy costs, further increasing the financial burden on global supply chains.
Looking ahead, the EIA maintains a relatively moderate long-term outlook, projecting that diesel prices could average just over $4 per gallon in 2026, with a gradual decline expected beyond that. However, much depends on how the geopolitical situation evolves.
