Meaningful partnerships, open communication, and a willingness to support one another have helped our members navigate a complex and fast-moving logistics landscape.
Dear members,
Season’s greetings and a very Happy New Year!

As we step into the new year, this is the time to pause, reflect, and acknowledge what we’ve achieved together. 2025 has been a strong year for Globalia, marked by consistent performance, deeper engagement across the network, a successful Annual Meeting and a renewed focus on collaboration as the foundation of sustainable growth.
What this year has reinforced, once again, is that our strength lies in working together. Meaningful partnerships, open communication, and a willingness to support one another have helped our members navigate a complex and fast-moving logistics landscape.
In this edition of the newsletter, you’ll find links to member news published over the past three months, highlighting achievements, milestones, and initiatives from across the network. These stories reflect the diversity, expertise, and momentum within Globalia.
We’ve also included key sector updates, including coverage of how the World Shipping Council is bringing ocean shipping into focus at the UN Sustainable Transport launch, along with selected headlines shaping the wider logistics and supply chain industry.
Looking ahead, preparations are already underway for our next Annual Meeting, scheduled for 26-28 October. To give you a sense of what’s to come, we’ve included a special feature titled Discover Bangkok: A Guide to Culture, Cuisine, and Leisure Around Globalia’s Annual Meeting, offering a glimpse into the city that will host us next year.
Thank you for your trust, your engagement, and your continued collaboration throughout 2025. We look forward to building on this momentum and moving into the new year together with confidence and purpose.
Kind regards,
Antonio Torres

Globalia’s 7th Annual Meeting will take place from October 26th to 28th at the Intercontinental Hotel in Bangkok. Bangkok is a city that perfectly blends vibrant culture, dynamic business opportunities, and warm hospitality. It was chosen as the destination not only because it’s a major logistics and trade hub in Southeast Asia but also for its unique charm that offers visitors a rich experience beyond the conference rooms. For delegates planning to arrive early or stay a bit later, Bangkok holds countless hidden gems waiting to be discovered, offering cultural, culinary, and leisure experiences that make any visit unforgettable.
Beyond its busy streets and gleaming skyscrapers, Bangkok is a city deeply rooted in history and tradition. The Grand Palace and Wat Phra Kaew (Temple of the Emerald Buddha) are must-see landmarks, showcasing Thailand’s architectural splendor and spiritual heritage. Nearby, Wat Pho’s Reclining Buddha and its traditional Thai massage school offer a serene escape into the country’s wellness traditions.
For those seeking less touristy spots, the artist enclave of Bangkok Art and Culture Centre offers rotating exhibitions, local crafts, and performances that reveal the city’s contemporary creative pulse. Take a stroll through Talad Noi, a historic neighborhood rich with street art, vintage shops, and traditional Chinese-Thai communities, providing a glimpse of authentic local life away from the tourist trail.
Bangkok is a paradise for food lovers, offering everything from world-class dining to bustling street food markets. Savor the flavors of authentic Thai cuisine at places like Jay Fai, a Michelin-starred street food vendor famed for her fiery crab omelette, or dive into the aromatic street stalls of Yaowarat (Chinatown), where you can feast on dim sum, fresh seafood, and exotic desserts.
For a more modern culinary experience, the riverside district of Asiatique combines shopping, dining, and entertainment. Enjoy dinner with a view of the Chao Phraya River, sampling Thai fusion dishes or international cuisine prepared by acclaimed chefs. Don’t miss the chance to try a traditional Thai tea or coffee at local cafés, many of which offer a cozy atmosphere perfect for relaxation or casual business chats away from the meeting hustle.
Bangkok offers a variety of leisure activities that provide balance to busy conference days. For a peaceful retreat, visit the Lumphini Park, a green oasis in the city center, ideal for morning walks or paddle boating on the lake. For those interested in shopping, Bangkok’s sprawling markets and luxury malls like Chatuchak Weekend Market and Siam Paragon offer everything from handcrafted souvenirs to high-end fashion.
f you’re looking to unwind in style, consider a traditional Thai massage or spa treatment. Many top hotels, including the Intercontinental itself, offer wellness facilities that combine ancient therapies with modern luxury, perfect for recharging after a day of meetings.
Bangkok’s allure lies in its ability to satisfy both the business traveler and the curious explorer. As Globalia members and guests gather to share ideas and build partnerships at the Annual Meeting, the city offers plenty of opportunities to make memories that extend beyond professional achievements.
Whether wandering ancient temples, indulging in bold flavors, or simply soaking in the vibrant atmosphere, delegates who take the time to explore Bangkok will return home with more than just business contacts, they’ll bring back stories and experiences that enrich both their personal and professional lives.
If you plan to arrive early or stay after the event, dive into Bangkok’s hidden gems and discover why this city continues to captivate visitors from around the world.

WSC calls for stronger recognition of shipping’s role in emissions reduction and investment in green marine fuels

The World Shipping Council (WSC) joined political leaders and transport industry representatives at the United Nations to mark the official launch of the Decade of Sustainable Transport, using the platform to underline the critical role ocean shipping must play in global decarbonisation efforts.
While public conversations around sustainable transport often focus on visible solutions such as electric vehicles and urban mobility, WSC highlighted that shipping operates largely out of sight despite carrying around 80% of global trade. Oceangoing vessels remain one of the most climate-efficient freight modes, yet the sector is frequently labelled as “hard to abate.”
Speaking at the UN event, WSC President and CEO Joe Kramek stressed that shipping’s energy transition represents a major opportunity for governments and industry to invest in renewable marine fuels and supporting infrastructure. He emphasised that the “ocean leg” of supply chains must be fully integrated into the work of the Decade of Sustainable Transport if meaningful emissions reductions are to be achieved.
“Liner shipping is investing USD 150 billion to build 1,035 dual-fuel ships by 2030, designed to run on low- and zero-GHG fuels,” said Kramek. “These are firm orders already placed. We hope the Decade of Sustainable Transport can bring the public and private sectors together to unlock affordable green marine fuels and infrastructure, accelerating emissions cuts across global supply chains.”
WSC also highlighted the importance of effective global greenhouse gas regulation at the International Maritime Organization. By elevating the role of ocean shipping within the UN framework, the Council aims to ensure the sector is recognised, supported, and fully leveraged as part of the solution for a more sustainable global transport system.
